Search By Neighborhood

When you're looking for Richmond, Virginia real estate or for real estate here in Amarillo, Texas, you know just from glancing at the real estate supplements that there are too many houses on the market at any given time for you to possibly look at them all. For instance, there are more than 1,500 homes for sale in Amarillo right now. That's why your real estate agent will want you to make a list of what you want in a house. Number of bedrooms and size will be helpful, but the most important thing on your list should be which neighborhoods you are willing to consider.

For people who are just moving to Amarillo now and have all their home buying experience in Halton real estate will find it difficult to choose a list of neighborhoods since they're not familiar with the city. In this case, there are a number of things you should do to figure out which ones are right for you. The first, of course, is to consult with your real estate agent (if you are using one) to take advantage of her in depth local knowledge.

Even if your real estate agent has given you great recommendations you should always check them out for yourself. You can have your agent from Guelph Realty take you on a driving tour of her recommended neighborhoods or you can take a self-guided tour of the city. Things you should be looking for are the traffic levels (lots of traffic means dangerous for kids and lots of background noise), how large the houses are and whether they are well kept, and the amenities available in or near the neighborhood (such as grocery stores or schools).

Different people have different priorities for neighborhoods, so make sure you figure out what yours are before you start looking. For instance, some people like a dense urban neighborhood, some people like their neighbors to be people like themselves, and other people want to live close to work. Never move put up your home for sale in Paris, Ontario and move to a neighborhood without having seen it - in both day and night - and seeing if you will feel safe there.

So where are the best neighborhoods in Amarillo? That depends on what your priorities are. If you're looking for a suburban type neighborhood with good access to schools and quieter streets, you might want to look into Grey Hawk Landing or Westover Village. The homes there are similar in size to what you might find on the Kitchener Waterloo real estate listings. Other popular zip codes to look into in Amarillo are in the Timbercreek Canyon, Bishop Hills, and Lake Tanglewood areas.
